Odometer Gears, Instructions, and Repairs
The electronic odometer manufactured for the Scorpio by VDO has a nasty habit of stripping some small gears made of a very soft plastic. If your speedometer is working, but the odometer no longer turns over, it most likely is caused by a broken gear. Speedometer repair shops will not sell the gear alone, but will charge you upwards of $120 to repair it for you. We have located a source for these gears and can provide them along with detailed instructions to assist those who want to perform the repair. The new gears are precision CNC machined from acetal resin (Delrin®) and should provide a very long service life. |
